San Juan
San Juan is a delight to explore with its stunning Condado district and impressive 16th-century Fort San Felipe del Morro which guards the entrance to San Juan Bay. An included walking tour showcases the main sights of Old San Juan including the beautiful Raices Fountain, the Ballaja Barracks and the ornate cathedral of San Juan Bautista. There are fascinating optional excursions available, including a driving tour in the heart of El Yunque Rainforest and a kayaking adventure.

Day 4
Bridgetown (Barbados)
Barbados is a vibrant World Heritage capital with stunning scenery. The island still retains traces of its colonial past, including a few red phone boxes. An included tour takes you to Bathsheba's Soup Bowl, the east coast's famous surfing spot, and Farley Hill National Park. Optional excursions include a catamaran ride along the island's Platinum Coast, a playground for the rich and famous, and a visit to Harrison's Cave.

Day 6
Royal Island (French Guiana)
Call on Île Royale (Royal Island) today, one of the three Îles du Salut that belong to mainland French Guiana. These three “Islands of Salvation” were a much-feared penal colony where Emperor Napoleon III sent notorious prisoners from the French mainland. Today, the islands are a relaxing hideaway with several restored prison buildings and abundant wildlife including green-winged Ara macaws, capuchin monkeys and sea turtles. Learn about two of the most famous prisoners sent to the infamous Devil’s Island: the accused, and later exonerated, traitor Captain Alfred Dreyfus and Henri Charrière, whose escape was made famous by the film Papillon, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

Day 8
Cruise the Amazon River
Make a brief stop at equatorial Macapá, capital of Brazil’s Amapá state near the mouth of the Amazon before spending the afternoon cruising the mighty Amazon River.

Day 9
Santarem (Brazil)
The small city of Santarém, is located at the confluence of the Tapajós and Amazon Rivers. Most nearby villages can only be reached by river, and it’s common to see families plying these waters in small boats. Enjoy an included panoramic tour of Santarem with visits to the Nova Orla Fluvial preomendade, the city's cathedral and Casa da Farinha, an old cassava flour mill which is now an agricultural farm. Casa de Farinha is home to native trees of the region; witness how latex is extracted from rubber trees during a demonstration. Optional excursions include a Piranha Fishing lesson on Maica Lake or a guided hike through Tapajos National Forest.

Day 10
Parintins
Arrive on the island of Tupinambarana and head to Parintins where you will witness an extravagant folklore performance, the Boi Bumbá. This unique theatrical tradition combines costumes, drumming and Amazonian, African and European rhythms to tell the story of a resurrected bull.

Day 11-12
Manaus
Spend two days exploring Manaus, a surprisingly cosmopolitan city in the middle of the Amazon rain-forest. Enjoy an included motor coach tour of Manaus' highlights. Admire the opulent Teatro Amazonas, or Manaus Opera House which is adorned with a striking tiled dome and pass the ornate Palácio Rio Negro before visiting the bustling riverside marketplace. Optional excursions include a visit to the Manaus Rubber Museum and a nearby indigenous village, an Amazon bird-watching experience or a Pink Dolphin encounter on Lake Acajatuba.

Cruise the Amazon River
Cruise the waters of the magnificent Amazon River, the world’s second longest at almost 4,000 miles from source to mouth.

Belem
Belem is the gateway to the Amazon and boasts impressive baroque colonial architecture, a fascinating botanical garden, a lively waterfront and colourful markets. Enjoy an included panoramic tour, passing Belem's historic sites and iconic buildings including the 18th-century Our Lady of Grace Cathedral, the neoclassical Basilica of Our Lady of Nazareth of Exile and the imposing stone facade of the Forte do Presépio, built at the time of the city’s founding to protect it from attacks by the French and Dutch. Optional excursions include a guided walking tour of Belem's Old Town, a culinary excursion to Latin America's biggest open air market or a visit to a local village where you can experience life along the Guamá River and interact with locals.

Day 18
Scarborough (Tobago and Tobago)
Arrive in Scarborouogh, Tobago's capital city. Discover the stunning scenery, colourful market and historic sites of Tobago during a panoramic tour. Visit Fort James and the nearby “mystery tombstone,” whose inscription has intrigued residents for more than two centuries, visit Store Bay, with its relaxing beach and local crafts market and witness the Fort King George, the city’s dominant feature, built by the British in 1777. Optional excursions include a guided trek through Tobago's Main Ridge Forest Reserve which is home to exotic wildlife and cascading waterfalls, a snorkel excursion at Tobago's beautiful Buccoo Reef or a cycling tour through Trinidad's scenic countryside.

Castries (St Lucia)
Known for its dramatic twin peaks of the Pitons and charming Creole character, St Lucia is one of the most idyllic Caribbean islands. Take an included drive around the city and up the soaring Morne Fortune. Watch a batik artist at work, before taking in more of the coastline, with stops at La Guerre, Monchy and Stony Hill. Alternatively, discover a variety of flora and fauna on an optional aerial tram ride through the tropical rainforest. Or perhaps enjoy an optional catamaran cruise along the coast, before having a Creole lunch at the estate of a 17th-century plantation.

St. John's (Antigua)
Tour the island of Antigua today on a drive through the tropical countryside to visit English Harbour with its yacht-lined restored Georgian dockyard, Admiral’s Inn, museum and art gallery. Optional excursions include exploring historic Fort James by Segway, enjoying a helicopter ride over Montserrat and luxurious catamaran sailing cruise.

St Thomas (US Virgin Islands)
Discover St. Thomas during a scenic drive along one of the island's most breathtaking routes, stopping at the famous Mountain Top for breathtaking views of the sea, emerald-green slopes and stunning bays. Why not try a banana daiquiri, said to have been invented here. Perhaps join the optional snorkelling trip to Turtle Cove where you can swim with rays and turtles.
